Once

Tears on my cheeks

A pen in my hand

A broken heart

A candle

A paper

A story

A poem

A flame.

And the tears dry.

The pen falls to the side

The heart slowly mends

As the candle burns the paper, the story, poem.

The paper becomes a story becomes a poem

Once is enough

To mend this broken heart.
