Once Benumbed

I am not good at feeling.

Courage was never my strong suit.

Right now, I am working on healing.

People know me as the “mute”.

Writing has always been there for me.

It gives me this relief.

It is a dose of passion and therapy.

It’s where my brain and heart agree to meet.

Through my writing I reveal my soul.

But, no one has to know it’s me.

My true self can take control.

Within these verses, I can grow freely.

It’s art through simple expression.

Powerful, striking, influential composing.

My bottled emotions rely on this obsession.

It’s the one place I feel comfortable exposing.

It gives me my shape.

It is my revealing.

It is my escape.

It gives me feeling.
