Once There Was a Bird

There once was a bird
A bird with damaged wings
But a strong heart

This bird worked hard on her wings
Making them stronger every day
So she may touch the sky

Soon she had her head in the clouds
Soaring over the lands
With her strong wings

One night the bird was all alone
And her wings were going too fast
She found some seeds that could help her slow down

But the seeds ended up doing more damage to her wings than good

Now the bird felt all alone
With damaged wings
And a weak heart

She stumbled on her trembling feet
Gazing up at the sky ever so often
Missing touching the stars
And grazing the clouds

The bird yearned to roam the blue endless ceiling
But with her damaged wings
And weak heart
Her feet were planted on the ground

God created her to flutter above the ground
She was destined to be up where the rain fell
To see the world with no end point

But with damaged wings
And a weak heart
Her feet were planted on the ground

One day as the morning dew soaked her feet
She started to run
No longer waiting to be lifted off the ground
The wind pushing her faster and faster

Until her feet were no longer planted on the ground
This bird worked hard on her wings
Making them stronger every day
So she may touch the sky again

There once was a bird
A bird with strong wings
And an unbreakable heart
