Once Upon a Rare and Happy Ending
Once Upon a rare and happy ending,
there happened an evil queen.
Once a mother, once a fair lady,
she'd turned a sickening sheen.
Never kind and never trusting,
and always jealous and green,
she'd hated her poor little serving girl,
who she'd starved and made to grow lean.
One night the servant escaped her reach,
and at the grand ball seemed to preen-
but she hadn't known her stepmother watched,
however dark and unseen.
The serving girl confined to her room,
the evil step- mother did glean-
The full extent of her wicked prize,
as her daughter's foot stole the scene.
She moved to the palace, her daughters in tow,
the poor girl was left, called obscene-
and dragged to death- row by the roots of her hair,
the poor serving- girl's hopes and her dreams...
