Once Upon a Tale

Thank you for keeping me warm at night.

For filling the silence when my thoughts were too loud.

You gave me joy when I had none and pain when I was too numb to feel.

We met once when I was young

Too young to understand your power

How I regret not seeing it sooner

To think of all the adventures we could have had

All the time wasted by ignorance.

But you’re here now

In my hands you rest

A solid weight

A sleeping giant waiting for me to awaken you

What will you show me this time I wonder

What far off land will we visit today

How will you break me and in which form shall I heal

When the story ends and the curtains close

I will leave that world different than I came

And my feet will walk my earth caring the lessons of lives that were never mine

And I will once again be reborn as I walk towards a story of my own.
