Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time
She was a little girl twirling in her dance class
Draped in pink satin with a ribbon kissing her curly hair
With a mischievous smile that you couldn't stay mad at
A smile that says, “I’m guilty” but is too cute to care
A little girl whose sticky candy kisses warmed your heart
Once upon a time…
Once upon a time
She proudly walked into her kindergarten class
She would shower you with mothers day cards and macaroni art
Her face would light up as she saw you waiting for her after school
Who would smile when you said I love you, to which she replied, “I love you more”
Who was growing up before your eyes, but was still your little girl
Once upon a time…
Once upon a time
Your little girl lied as she looked into your eyes
As she kissed you goodbye and walked out the door
You thought you knew where she was, but you were wrong
Does that make you a bad mother or is she a bad daughter?
Her friends you thought you knew were teaching your little girl how to lie
Once upon a time…
Once upon a time
Your little girl made new friends
Lines of white powder and razors
But nobody made her happier than the bottom of the bottle
She was slipping through your fingers, but she was a professional liar and you had no idea
As you laid in your bed thinking of how proud you are of your little girl
She laid in the bed of a stranger as his fingers ran down her body
Once upon a time…
Once upon a time
You got the call about the accident
Never would your little girl drink and drive
Her body six feet under as the truth begins to surface
Did that make you a bad mother, or was she a bad daughter?
Her smile lit up your room, her presence gave you meaning to life
Once upon a time…
