Once upon a time

In another life

She danced with a prince

She had many friends

And every reason to smile

Her life was a wonderful dream

With beauty in every scene

Nothing ever went wrong

She always belonged

Every moment spent was worthwhile

Tears only of joy and laughter

She had happily ever after

But as she grew older

Everyone told her

Childish dreams had to be left behind

Now she has grown

And lived a life alone

To face the truth of the world

That not every girl

Gets an ending of the fairytale kind

And sometimes pain fills her eyes

And sometimes she cries

Because she had lived in a world

Where fantasy unfurled
