Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time,
The sun rose from the east
As the hummingbirds sung
Away the darkness of the beast.

The beauty of not knowing
What made me love you,
Or the mystery of what made
You hate me like you do.

Tired of wrapping myself in a blanket,
Only persuading myself that it's your arms,
For maybe if you were just here
Shit wouldn't be so hard.

People say life goes on,
"Just forget", yet
Once upon a time
You were mine.
