Once Upon A Time, A
Once Upon A Time,
A princess was locked in her tower.
She waited and waited,
And she was thinking only of a shower.
The princess looked out her window,
And one day to her surprise,
She saw a prince galloping towards her,
As the guard dragon fell in demise.
The prince came to the princess,
And as he whisked her away,
He caught wind of her stench,
And he promptly expressed his dismay.
“Do you not bathe, my fair maiden?”
The prince asked quite loudly,
“Well I’ve been locked in this tower,”
The princess explained rather shroudly.
“‘Tis no excuse for a princess,”
The prince finally decided,
“You shall be sent back to your tower,
Where the rest of your stench has resided.”
Bewildered, the princess was sent back,
And as she walked up the steps of her tower,
She realized she would no longer be rescued,
And she certainly would never see a shower.
Soon she thought up a plan,
And descended the stairs rather swiftly,
The prince was left at the top,
With every thought in his brain leaving quickly.
Down the corridor she went,
Rustling dust in her wake,
The prince darted after her,
But stopped when he saw what was at stake.
See, in her mad dash down the stairs,
The princess lifted a treasure,
The brave prince was left weaponless,
And the realization made him quiver.
At the bottom of the stairs,
The princess held the prince’s sword,
Raised to the prince’s heart,
He winced but gave not a word.
The prince understood the threat,
And walked back up the stairs,
The princess locked him in,
Then tacked up one of her mares.
She rode into the kingdom,
With her tower directly behind her,
She was welcomed with great applause,
Not that to her it mattered.
The princess entered the castle,
And found that it smelled of a flower,
She walked and wandered,
And there she found her shower.
