The One
My dearest love,
Mistakes have been made,
More times than one, I’m afraid.
Though drawn to each other,
Like this, we’ll never find another.
I left you for something I knew would never last.
I left you for something full of remnants of my past.
But you were the one thing always constant in my life.
I threw it away and now I drown in my inner strife.
The rainbow to my storm,
The rose growing through my thorns,
I buried in the shadows of my fear.
I ran, lost control, can no longer steer.
I realize what I’ve done, although too late.
I’ve got to accept my fate, and wait.
You’ve been won over,
Not by me, I painfully say, I am merely hungover.
I sit and watch the smile grow;
You’re with him and your face glows.
I cannot face it any more;
Every time I look, I have been torn.
We’ve come to terms and have said our vows;
That if meant to be, our hearts will bow.
The gentle kiss and soft embrace,
Brings endless smiles to my face.
Though time will tell,
I shall prevail
To win your heart;
Our forever life shall start.
Since we’ve met, you’ve been my world.
Yet with our hearts, I’ve twirled;
Not realizing that the love I seek
Has been by my side, reaching its peak.
Now that I’ve grown, I’ve lost control;
I no longer have the dice to roll.
For it’s for you to decide
For whom you’d like to confide.
Tattooed on each other’s hearts,
Our love will never grow apart;
Yet time and time alight
We can never seem to get it right.
Though in the end, when it matters most,
We raise our glasses in a toast,
‘Cause we have realized our future’s within
And with each other, our life begins.
Yours forever,
Me
