One and the Same

Four years have come and gone, Since the day we became best friends. You talked of Mario and Luigi, And promised me the "game" would never end. We have been through a lot, you and I-- And it wasn't all fun and games. Sometimes we let the stress get the better of us, And we would call each other names. No matter who behaved like the bigger jerk, There is always a reason to not stay mad. It's because I don't ever want to lose you; You're like the big brother I was destined to have had. I know you worry of being forgotten, That is a feeling I truly understand. Wherever life decides to take us, apart or together-- I will never forget you, or the times we have had. You also claim to be losing your sanity-- Once again, we are one and the same. One of us will lick floors, While the other flips out and runs through doors. At least if we do go crazy, We will always have one another. Who better to suffer life with, Than the one who experiences the same as the other. You asked me if I would still be your friend, If you did go mentally insane. That's like asking if I would continue to love you, Which of course, the answer remains the same. Yes, with all my heart. My answer has never, nor will ever switch. I promised you I would never leave, Like all the others that seem to ditch. Please don't isolate yourself, It hurts to see the pain in your eyes. I am sorry if I made you feel disconnected, I don't want you to sever your ties. It seems you have just fallen into a hole, I too have fell into my fair share. Take my hand and we'll climb out together, It wasn't too terribly hard to bear. Now, let's eat our mushrooms and keep going-- Bowser's not going to give up the chase. I can't let you lose another life, We have plenty more levels to face.
