One Day

One of these days You’ll regret what you’ve done And how you left her Thinking you had won You’ll remember the good times All the laughter and smiles shared A tear will stroll down your cheek When you realize that someone cared But you were too blind to see it Caught up only in what you desired You didn’t even notice That she was past done and tired She tried to stay To hold on to what you two had Didn’t listen to wise words She knew you were bad You kept her going Strung her along She waited for your sweet talk She knew it was wrong She believed your lies Your half-hearted words She was trapped in your desire Your very own caged bird You wanted her company She was always there She trusted you with her heart But you didn’t care You left her alone Battling emotions she didn’t know she had Each night was always the same You were driving her mad She wanted to stay Your words were songs in her ears She wanted to leave Your actions only sparked tears She holds on with dear life To the love she once knew But her hands can’t hold on much longer To the love she thought was true You were incapable of love She knew it from the start She fell for your dirty tricks You didn’t have a heart She gathered up her courage Stood up to the anchor bringing her down Left him in his misery She swam and didn’t drown Now she’s gone and happy Now that you’re out of sight Too bad you just now realized You came into the light She was the best you ever had And you didn’t even know Until you went and messed it up Tied a knot in your bow Now you know you want her back You plead as though you’ll try To make up for lost love But that was the last goodbye You learn from past corruption Your strengths and your flaws One day you’ll finally realize You mess with the wolf, You’ll surely get the claws.
