One Day
One day I will meet someone who will love me for me
A person who hears my laugh and instead of hearing a dying duck hears nothing but the waves of the sea.
One day I will feel special, One day I will feel unique,
Not like something is wrong, or in my brain there is some intelligence leak.
One day I won’t be apologizing repeatedly even though I did nothing wrong,
But we will work together as a team like in one of those sappy love songs.
One day I won’t be scared to speak what’s on my mind,
My opinion will be valued and not just a part of the daily grind.
One day I will wake up and wonder how it is I got so lucky,
Instead of being kept awake at night wondering what is so wrong with the fact I am plucky.
One day I will be told that I am pretty even though I just woke up and my hair is icky,
Instead of being told I need to put some effort into my appearance, that’s not him just being picky.
One day we will like the same stuff, we will laugh, we will smile,
Even if we don’t like the same things, we like them for each other all the while.
One day the butterflies inside will not be ridden with darkness and fear,
Instead the happiness will be true and what it appears.
One day this and so much more for me will finally be true,
I will hear and truly feel the meaning of “I love you”.
But the most important thing for me to understand is that for me to have a healthy relationship,
It will never be with you.
