One Day

One day…

We will have met; maybe young, maybe old

Maybe too much of either

And we will have had the adventures that not even Hollywood could tell

She will smile, she will laugh, she may cry, she may anger

But I? I will love her

One day…

She will be the girl that loves her boots

And will be picky about her heels

She will have beautiful legs but still choose to wear jeans

And will rock a skirt or a summer dress if she feels like so

One day…

She will have scars

Her body will be marked and so will her heart

But I will call them beauty marks

And I will kiss and love and nurture each of them for they tell her story and shaped the woman I love

One day…

She will understand how much I hate eating alone

And she will insist that regardless of the distance or circumstance, that I shall eat in company of her

She'll see me up on late nights and bit me well on early dawns and long days

And will miss me the second I leave only to shower me with affection upon my return

One day…

One and one made two and two made one

And then there were three and four, maybe five or six if that is life

She'll have a new title, she'll get used to MOM

And I will have become DAD

The sound of a million tiny steps followed by screaming and laughter will fill our house

And we will call it our home

One day…

The age at which we met will be younger than the years we've loved one another

And we will be grey and wrinkled but our hearts for one another could never be stronger

We'll sit at our porch and watch the sunset and reminisce all the adventures we had

And we'll give our dying breath to one another vowing nothing but sweet love

But everyday…

But every day I loved her and she loved me

I thanked God for smiling upon her and me

And I got her flowers and kissed her cheeks

But what she will have given me is so much more

Because when I gave her a house, she made me a home

And when I gave her love, she made me a family

When I gave her money, she made me rich

When I gave her time, she gave me life

And if I ever lost a battle, she won me the war

And one day… if it's God's will, may this forever be you and me
