One day when I was

One day when I was in preschool, my mom walked in my room to find me flipping through a book, supposedly reading it

Ever since that day, I have been infatuated with books

Whatever genre I read; fantasy, science fiction, or nonfiction, I could never get enough

The local library up the street from my house became my second home

Once I grew up and was actually able to read and comprehend them, I found it hard to leave the fictional escape that books gave

If I had a bad day at school, I could always count on a book and its characters to cheer me up; and the words in the story to inspire me to keep moving forward

My affinity for reading sets me apart from other teenagers my age, but I don’t mind; often times preferring the company of the steadfast characters in my books to the unfamiliar classmates around me

A perfect Friday night to me involves a cozy night at home spending time with my family and enjoying the company of a good book

When I am among friends, though, I am able to come out of my shell; bravery being one of the attributes which I believe books have taught me over the years

My love for reading has also instilled in me a passion for writing, where the fate of the characters is in my own hands
