One Dream

One smile may lift my spirit;

One class enhance my knowledge.

One job may change my life

With the essential assistance of college.

I posses the hands of an artist,

but throughout the past few years,

they have sewn dresses,

drawn faces,

brushed paintings,

and brushed away a good number of tears.

With the loss of my Mother in June 2013,

I felt my present and future were broken.

Art was my comfort, my outlet , my answer;

and a glimmer of hope was spoken.

"Do what you love."  Simple words of wisdom

that sparked dreams in my soul.

Pursing a career in fashion design

has now become my goal.

I desire to be a seamstress

and own my own boutique.

This dream has brightened a future

I once feared would be bleak.

My creativity and education would be used

to dress a blushing bride,

to make a prom girl princess for the day,

to express who they are inside.

One job may change my life,

And show that hard work can achieve

any goal set before me,

any dream that I may weave.
