One dream, One mind, A thousands lives

All her children are gone, all her brothers and sisters are resting underground, mom and dad were the first to make it there.

Now she is alone, alone in a white room, four walls, one window.

Her head is resting on her pillow, she is staring at the cieling fan going around and around.

There is no livlieness to this room, to this prison, this confinment.

A tear escapes and cascades down her aged and wrinkled face. it slips, it falls.

The room is so silent, she listens, she hears the small splash as it crashes into the floor.

Where are the children who held her hand and promised to love her? where are the pinky promises and where is the luaghter?

She is alone in this home, forced by the hands she raised, abondend and forgotten.

A knock at the door, a sweet voice, an entry.

A small women enters the white room, she is smiling, she seems warm.

she says "Mrs. valls, i will be assisting you today, my name is mrs. perez." she blinks, she is still smiling.

The other nurses dont always smile, some of them frown, some of them are emotionless.

The room seems better, warmer, not so bad anymore.

The nurse is kind, she cares, and she is enthusiastic.

she is like the duaghter who has now returned, to care for her, to mend the broken bond.

Mrs. valls remembers now, her children are still with her, in her heart.

When will she forget again, go blank, go hostile.

she needs comfort, support, her memory.

She doesnt want alzheimer's, assistance, or  help.

She wants normal, healthy, home.

To be better again.

Many are out there, some better, some worse, then Mrs. Valls.

They are crying to themselves, in front of nurses, in front of empty hands.

They need comfort, help, and assistance.

They want to go home, be better, be healthy again.

Some live under hospice care, 6 months to live, 6 months to die alone.

I want to be there, to provide comfort and somone who cares.

They wont be alone, scared, or angry.

I want to assist them, to help and to comfort them.

They need my help, my care, my skills.

I dream to be that smile that lifts their spirits and helps them.

Those wrinkly smiles changed me, when i first witnessed their pain.

The need to care for them has already changed me, becuase they need me.

They will make me wise, strong, and willing.

In order to care for them, I need a nursing assistance certificate.

But that is not enough, i want to truly care for them.

In order to do this, i need a lisence.

I will need a year of studying in the LVN program.

But money is always an issue, a problem, and obstacle.

My mother supports me, my teachers, and friends.

but in the end i will need to do the best i can, becuase oppurtutinity is a small window.
