The One That Got Away

What did I do to you to deserve this?

You said that this was meant to be

I gave you everything, you left me with nothing

Was he better, were you bored of me?

Countless nights with too many tears shed

So many dreams wishing you were still in my bed

A past forged with fantasies

A present broken

A future unclear

I took the oath, I served my country for a better life for both

I'm better now, stronger

I hold my head up higher and face the sun.
