One hand up....

Somebody's daughter died And another woman's baby did it He has learnt the art of war How to turn his hands into a weapon that kills That bangs walls and chroke spines. I constantly wonder what happens to a body Of a woman who dies without achieving anything What happens to a body of a nobody woman Does anybody raise hashtags for her? Who wears her shirt and say she belonged to herself. Can somebody raise hashtags for all the women Who weren't beautiful enough to make it to the news The woman who got gang raped in her home Had boys decorate her pussy with coke bottles Shaved inside her. Let's start a movement for my best friend's mother Killed by her lover. Found with her hand up for surrender and one hand on her pussy for protection What happens to a warm body that drinks That lives in dark streets of Mkhancwa? Who write hashtags for Nobuhle killed on her way from the kitchens? What happens to the justice of a woman found in the water dig-up hole rotting? I still hear her cry She moves through our streets But she is drunk and that man is probably her boyfriend Didn't her body belong to her too? Didn't her life matter too? MY HAND UP FOR SURRENDER AND ONE HAND ON MY PUSSY FOR PROTECTION How do you not notice your killer? The first time he smiles at you Doesn't it reminds you of your last days? Of fresh graves Of corpse that smells How reckless it must be to feel safe in the hands That will one day kill you one hand up for surrender And one hand on my pussy for protection
