One Heart

One Heart
One heart longing for love,
The love it found was simply not enough.
Been tossed around more than one time,
Feeling like a constantly spinning dime.
Was lifted up, but then shot down,
My face always seemed to be in a frown.
Began thinking ‘I will never be able to love’
Until you came along, your face as sweet as a dove.
I began to think, ‘another bridge to burn’,
And that is when my face the other way it began to turn.
As time went on, I began to realize,
You are the one, not like the other guys.
You accepted me for me,
Even when I kicked the ball in that tree.
We laughed, we cried,
I constantly wanted to be at your side.
Our hands…they fit perfectly within one another,
Our first kiss, haha, you told your mother.
Remember climbing that hill that looked like a mountain?
Or when we walked past your water fountain?
We layed in each others’ arms on your hamick,
You killed me while playing ping pong and bad-mitten.
We played soccer at my house in the side-yard,
For some reason, I laughed when you would fart.
You were and are big into hunting,
While I’m at home simply doing nothing.
Being with you simply lit up my world every time,
Once you got your braces off, you smile would brightly shine.
Your green eyes, freckled face,
Made me always want to be with you in that place.
My best memory of all was on that fourth of July,
Laying with you, hearing your voice, and watching those colors fly.
We held hands, were as happy as ever,
Those days I wouldn’t take back…NEVER!
Being with you was the highlight of my life,
And that…is not a lie.
I hoped and prayed,
That maybe one day we would get married.
Your family was like my second family,
The thought of separation was quite scary.
But here we stand,
No longer hand in hand.
I pass the destination of you and our memories,
Knowing if God chooses we can begin a fresh series.
From our first day together, I still have the purple flower you gave me,
Remember our song-Blake Shelton-“Honey Bee”.
You were going to write ‘be mine’ on a soccer ball,
But instead we sat next to the lake watching the rocks fall.
So here is to you, a cat lover,
That maybe one day we again will be with one another.
