Our chorus plays out as we make up our own childhood games. Strangers snap their fingers to our catchy tune of doing and pulling hair. Those who know the words sing about the adventures we have while our mothers gossip. New listeners just hum along to the sound of academic and athletic achievements. Few start to dance with partners to the melody of growing up. Soon enough, we are at the top of the charts by sharing our story of graduation through song. Our compact discs skip. Our mp3 files are corrupt. Our radios lose connection. Sooner than we realize, generations pass. Our grandchildren are together, listening to their favorite songs.
