The One I Love

It was once said by a man who has a few trophies on a shelf,

That “it doesn’t matter where you’re from, but where you’re going. And when you get there, it’s never by yourself.”

An important reminder that even when life gets tough and you want to hide,

It’s important to have the right people by your side.

Having the right people in my life is something I can’t live without.

Because life is an adventure with curveballs that makes me want to scream and shout.

The conceptualization of family is important to me,

For the power of “I” is never greater than the power of “we.”

When it’s all said it done,

And if I really had to chose one,

It is something that it’s really hard to do,

Because a lot of people has touched my life and it’s definitely more than two.

But, my grandmother is the one person that really stands out.

Having her in my life makes me want to shout.

Shout to the heavens how thankful I am for her,

For being a role model, an inspirational figure, and for all of the laughter.

She has always pushed me to strive to be the best,

No matter what happens in life and what life wants to test.

Like my grandma used to always say,

“If you love what you do and want to be the best, you will always find a way.”

I love my grandma with all of my heart,

A love more beautiful than a pristine art.

But as the song goes, “Saying I love you is not the words I want to hear from you.

It’s not that I don’t want you not to say them, but if you only knew

How easy it would be to show me how you feel

More than words is all you have to do to make it real.

Than you wouldn’t have to say, that you love me.

Cause I already know.”
