Of the One on the Island

At the end of the world on a sea of nothingness,

During the easy times and after the hard lives,

My only need is for friendliness.

On the island of desolation where the whispering winds echo loneliness,

And the only sounds are that of singing sands,

I yearn for a friendly whisper of liveliness.

During nights of terror and days of unending grief,

A true friend to end the monotony is my only relief.

Abandonment procures thoughts of starvation,

But what of the soul?

What will be this delicate flower’s nutrition?

Conversation, a scarcity in this media filled land,

Is the desire of the lonely, the forgotten,

Of the one on the island.
