One Job May Change My Life

"Terpsichore, please come to the stage."

I walk out wearing a silver cape.

My cheeks are contoured with teal shadow.

I model the future fashion of our universe.

My indigo tresses are pulled up high and tight.

I pull the microphone close to my lips

And I whisper. . .

"Who likes to dance?"

The lights go out.

The bass begins to pump.

The lights come on

And I toss the glitter.

I grab the watergun full of

lime green paint and shoot

towards the front row.

I jump down and grab

the first person I see dancing

And pull them onstage with me.

At 160 beats per minute

Our hearts are in rhythm

with the rapid stream of bass.

We feel the beat.

We hear the synth.

We are the music.

The lights are flashing.

Purple.

Green.

Teal.

Blue.

Together we dance.

Peace.

Love.

Unity.

Respect.

I mix.

They move.

We flow.

We are one.
