One Kayak

After a storm on a July morning,

Kayaking was planned without warning.

With only one kayak it couldn’t be done,

So we set off to rent another one.

Upon arrival we placed the kayak in the water,

But the weather prevented us from renting the other,

The weather might have been a problem today

But my tenacious father continued his own way.

His orders were “cooler in back”, then he in the middle,

My younger brother on the cooler, since he was so little,

Then I in front and my sister behind,

My older brother squeezed in, and the rope was untied.

Leaving the marina was quite a sight, meaning,

In the midst of beautiful yachts was a kayak half sinking.

Eyes high above watched with censure,

But midway, the water no longer entered.

And with only the stern sunk, we continued our journey,

This was embarrassing, but undoubtedly funny.
