One Last Chance
The little girl was never heard,
but she still wished to be free just like a bird.
Her parents treated her like she didn’t belong.
She kept their secret even though it was wrong.
She was getting tired of all the abuse,
But she knew the battle was hers to lose.
She hid her life with millions of lies.
No one saw the pain in her eyes.
One last chance to run away,
her entire life was in disarray.
She goes to school and the students ask.
They still don’t see behind her mask.
After school, she came home to find,
That both of her parents had lost their mind.
Her mom did drugs and her daddy was drunk.
She knew her chances of freedom were sunk.
The beatings started up once more.
Her cries could be heard from next door.
A little boy saw the hurt in her heart.
He vowed to help the next time it would start.
Friday morning the boy went to school,
But the girl was not there and he felt like a fool.
The beatings were too much for her to stand,
She prayed and placed her soul in God’s hands.
That night she took her final breath,
She slipped into the presence of death.
Everyone remembers that sacred day,
When the girl became free and flew away.
The little girl, at age eleven,
Now rests in peace with her true father in heaven.
