One Last Time

One last time

From the age of  five

I’ve dedicated my life

My body, mind, and soul

One last time

Lasting friendships

Lasting bonds

A team united

Ready for battle

One last time

Setting new goals

Reaching new heights

Time after time

Never willing to settle

One last time

Adjusting my bow

I walk onto the stage

Bright lights warming my skin

Places

One last time

Holding back tears

My mother smiles

From my first cartwheel

To my third nationals win

One last time

I’ll never forget learning to push through

To endure

Pain is temporary

Success is everlasting

Even in memory

One last time

Cheerleading changed my life

Shaped me physically and mentally

Taught me how to fail

How to win

How to work

One last time

Standing there in front of the crowd

Roaring cheers

Visions of medals

Self contemptment

One last time

Ever so thankful

For the past 13 years

Past coaches

Past teammates

All molding me into a masterpiece of my own

One last time

The music begins to blare

Bodies begin to move

Flip, spin, jump, twist

Endure

Enjoy

Smile

Breath

One last time
