One Little Ring

one little ring can remind me of all the memories.
it takes me to a familiar place.
straps me in and gets me ready to travel through the roller coaster of the past.
her face shines brightly and smiles back at me whenever I'm having a bad day.
her scent, white diamonds perfume fills the air.
her legs wrap around my finger like a comfortable pair of shoes.
the soft voice speaks to me, reassuring everything is ok.
her blue eyes sparkle in the light, watching everything happening in front of her.
not able to speak to the outside world.
she can only speak to me, no one else knows she's there.
like an angel she appears.
worried that I might not be ok.
her hands squeeze my shoulder giving comfort.
her mouth re-informs me that no matter what happens everything will be ok.
her ears listen as I speak to her venting about what the new drama in my life is.
the trustworthy ring knows my deepest secrets, my wants, desires.
she understands how I feel.
I know I can trust her
her heart is filled with compassion and love.
never judgmental
always there when I need to calm down or need to let my emotions out.
this one day was a horrible one
I could not stop the tears rushing down my face
I looked down as I cried and she said to me "don't be sad, you have so much to live for".
she smiled and spoke to me until I did not cry anymore.
I wondered why this ring brought so much comfort and love to me.
then the memories started to flood my mind.
I remembered the voice, touch, and
smell of my grandmother.
who would have know one little ring can do so much?
