To One Of The Lost

Dear Jake or Spencer or Ally
Or to someone else that wrote
A poem to never be shared

Your last poem came together
slowly crawling through
lost hopes and haunting words
waiting for your pen to be
thrown down yet there was
no one else around to stop you

If only I could have shown
you my first last poem
or my second or maybe my fifth
but you kept your writing tucked away
as I had done time and time again

This writing was not meant
to be kept hidden in your mind
and should have never been finished
as you did that midsummer's evening
I wish I could dissect every line of
your writing but not all poems are shared
And this is one you took with you
