One Mistake

Nicole was an amazing girl. Homecoming court Basketball Band Presumed valedictorian She did it all. But she made one fatal mistake, one that cost her it all. She got pregnant at seventeen. Thus began her downfall. She missed much school. Teachers refused to let her catch up. Her grades started to fumble. She could no longer play basketball. Her “friends” did not socialize with her anymore. At six months pregnant, Nicole was failing every class. Finally the counselor told her, “You will not pass.” Where were Nicole’s opportunities? Like Hester Prynne, she had none. She was shunned from society, Even teachers turned their noses up at her. And why is this so? One mistake equaled the end of her life. Nicole should have received help, And definitely shouldn’t have been ostracized.
