One Moment and the Next

The rain splatters on the pavement,

it wets and splashes everything it touches,

people are running away and screeching,

I don’t know why they are afraid of water,

it makes me feel alive and like I’ve never truly,

Existed.

The rain crawls to a stop much too soon,

and the blistering sun is out to bathe everything free,

people relax and join me outside,

I don’t know why people love light so much,

it makes me feel exposed and I’m vulnerable now,

I run.
