One More Year
Although we live in it now
Next year I will have to take a leap
Away from home I will go
Somewhere down in Tempe
To the lovely campus
Where I'll hope to paint my canvas
With student loans, dorm room moans, and integrated classes
But before I sail away
To the future as far as 365 days
I can still practice teenage norms
Like fool around and fix my grades
Hang with friends and play some games
Come to school and misbehave
I graduated from a school called gateway but I don't see Peter
I got the keys to my own heaven
My own future
And I'm sure you guys do too
Don't just stay in this boring mindset
Do something that interests
You
I wish I could be more sophisticated
I think I'm ready for what's ahead
But I'm tired of feeling relegated
Cuz in the future, none of us wanna be behind a desk
Typing creativity and imagination away
While we all wish we were rich
See we gotta plan this all out like an architect
There's blueprints on our backs
But some of us may be whipped
The reality is
We all wanna stay young
I don't think it's time to grow up
There's no place to have fun
Where would I go then
To a bar with so called friends
To get a sip of regret and leave a tip?
Nah I don't think so
I think I'd rather stay an adolescent
It's sounds pretty strange
But do paying bills and stressin bring amusement
I got little time left to do the things others dream
Like worry about homework
Instead of debt and grief
I know we're all scared of what's to come
Asking ourselves the same question
We can't answer
What do I want to be when I grow up
I still can't answer this
And here I am saying
I'm ready for college
Man I don't what to study
The only things I like to do
Is listen to music
And be funny
Maybe that life isn't for me
Maybe I'm supposed to be left on the streets
Because
If having knowledgable information about the art of ear entertainment only puts me as another kid who wants to sell a playlist
Then
Who is there then to save him
Now just one more thing
Let me finish
I know times running out
I'm running low on minutes
Cuz see although we live in it now
Next year I will have to take a leap
Away from home I will go
Somewhere I can hope to be me
