One Parent

I look to my right my mom,

I look to my left nothing,

One role model, no dad,

One single mom, working hard,

Striving for her child,

Who she loves so very much,

Working 24/7,

Child never having mom around,

Striving to have a roof over child’s and her own,

Child compares to other sisters,

“Why we look nothing alike”,

Sadness running down child’s face,

“Would I beat her, like he did”,

“Would I let her down, like he did”,

“No I wouldn’t become a monster, like he did “

But to love and respect her,

Respecting the wonderful women she is,

Respecting how strong she was for me,

A woman, who is not selfish but selfless,

One mom,

No dad.
