One Parent

One parent is left,
To take care of her young.
One parent is gone,
Miles away in a land unknown.
One parent is left,
And at times feels helpless.
One parent is gone,
And the child has changed.

Let this be the end
Of broken ties,
Forced or voluntary.
Let this be the end
Of endured hardships,
Forced upon those left behind.
