One Second Too Late
I look at the beautiful woman staring back at me,
She just found the perfect prom dress.
She turns around to tell you,
But on no one her eyes rest.
The anger comes off of her in waves,
Just another thing you have missed.
She paints a smile on her face trying to be brave,
As she question whether you still exist.
Things start to get better for her,
But at a price she didn't want to pay.
From time to time she becomes bitter,
And locks herself away.
She sits here writing a sonnet,
Thinking about all the things she didn't say.
She prays for a shooting star or commet,
So she can ask for one more day.
She looks for a way to change your fate
Before it becomes even a second too late.
