One Step Forward, Three Steps Back

Today, today, there are fewer children at play

Where socialization is the touch of a button away

We’re modern and fast, and we like it that way

It looks like technology is here to stay.

Fight, fight, and stand for your right

Do not keep quiet and lose freedoms light

This concept isn’t new but more is at stake

Losing whales and parks will create a great ache

I won’t keep quiet while we let the earth break.

Vote, vote, political changes are scary so be sure to take note

Small minded people think it’s a just a lot of smoke

But global warming is not a joke.

Some want regression to decades before

And are undoing all we’ve been working toward

Tensions are high between the two parties

Politicians teaching hate, and not saying sorry.

Propaganda, we thought, was left behind with the war

But what we don’t realize is that there’s more than before

With every app, game, and website that we spend our time on

We are advertised to based on conclusions that they've drawn

Yes, today’s culture is fast and exciting

We think we have total freedom

But we all are abiding
