One step at a time

Matthew 7:13-14 

¹³ “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction,

and there are many who go in by it.¹⁴ Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Narrow is the path ... and there are few that find it

Narrow is the gate ... where only the living can pass through

God’s Will is the standard ... for every step that is taken

The bible gives direction if the Holy Spirit resides and rules

We can walk in Christ’s footsteps and our desires not be like His

Hanging on to Christ’s coattails ... but not liking where He goes

Somewhere along the path ... we surely will let go

Not having strength enough ... to the enjoyment of His foes

If our heart’s desires ... are different from God’s

Even though we deeply try ... to follow His direction

Where do you think ... that we’ll wind up in the end?

Surely not where we need to be ... so far from perfection

We’ll wind up where we want to be and not where God desires

Yes, somewhere we will compromise ... beguiled by flesh and mind

The energy of the soul ... is very often underestimated

And nothing hinders the union more ... between self and Jesus Christ

All things outside of God are vain ... for that is flesh indeed

Thoughts and strength outside of God are cursed and drowned in pain

Nothing left to hang on ... but to emptiness inside

Losing all we thought we had ... in depression’s gain

As more vitality of the soul is crushed ... more of the will centers on God

The new life that we have ... is inclined towards our Maker

Suppressing comes from the “old” soul not wanting to give up the ruling

Of its destiny’s wants and wishes ... until it meets the undertaker
