From One Stranger To Another

I passed you in the hall last week.

You seemed so nervous, tortured to speak.

Your eyes were gazing, but then quickly looked away

as if you weren't privelaged enough... or simply not good enough.

Please little girl, don't be so insecure.

I know your pain, I've been there before.

I promise in time you'll find your voice.

Your eyes will glisten, and they'll finally stop and listen.

There's always beauty in the introverted ones.

Mark my words, they'll leave you stunned

And it isn't until then when you finally notice

because you underestimate, a common human mistake.

Let's give a round of applause for the stereotypes.

Now this little girl thinks herself just won't suffice.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder

But the beholder is seeking, looking for something worth believing.

I'm merely a stranger, maybe I wouldn't understand

I only hold enough power to carry in my hands

But if a simple ackowledgment would make your day

then from one stranger to another... here's a smile and a wave.
