One of Them

Chase and Cornered.
The darkest path
no man dare travel.

Thinking it was uninhabited
Oh no,
They were still there.
Waiting.
With devilish grins.
Wanting my flesh.

Goodbye, all I love.
Goodbye, sweet life.
I will miss, you most.
For they will take my last breath.

They reach,
I squirm.
Taking my last breath.
Pleading one last time.

They touch and disappear.
They did not feast upon my flesh.
No. No.
They devoured my soul.

Taking happiness
love
and child-like wonder.

All they left was an empty shell and a grin.
One just like them.

Now I walk amongst the dead.
Yet, we still breath.
We are tortured by laughs
and smiles of the living.

For everyone thinks, we are alive.
But we are all
dead inside
