"That One Thing"

It’s that one thing you hold near.

It’s that one thing you can’t hear.

It’s a thought that you search for in the blackness of night,

Tearing you limb from limb in silence,

With your heart ripping in your chest.

You awaken.

Your mind is numb and in despair.

You hold and grasp yourself, but nothing is there.

You see what you need, but it’s a hopeless task.

No, it is as palpable as her skin

It’s the love you feel when you are near her

It’s the love you feel when you can hear her

But that one thing,

Was just a dream.
