One Thing

To be stranded on an island is a secret dream of mine.
The idea of survival would seem to me just fine.
What some would find a death sentence, I look to as a joy;
The lifestyle of R. Crusoe, I wished for as a boy.

In such a circumstace, some say, what you need to stay alive;
Is a lighter, matches, a knife, a bow, some rope or thread or twine.
But I say to you, all the above, can be found upon the land.
All I need, as strange as it seems, is the young woman who holds my heart in her hands.

This fantastic girl, whom forever I love, is all I truly need.
She's brilliant and funny, creative and kind, she is my reason to be.
"You fool," you may say, "what good is a girl in a place where you daily could die?"
"A burden she'll be, and soon you will see your decision has cost you your lives."

But I disagree, and you know not of her, nor just how amazing is she.
Smart beyond reason, and in every season, my light by which I can see.
She is my anchor, my heart, now and forever, my guide, my world, and my love.
My darling beloved, my wild Irish rose, together we'll be, by the heavens above.
