The one thing I can't live without in college
From childhood, we are told to follow our heart
And pursue those things that we hold close to it.
However getting caught up with impressions we lost our momentum from the start.
Growing up, we may have even wanted to quit.
Regardless of what society might say,
An idea in my mind still holds true
While in fact, its weight has a purpose to play.
Experiencing life has stretched my heart and as a result it grew,
But no matter how horrid or happy, I found them a necessity.
So yes, kids. Follow your heart and the dreams that come.
But in every trial, don’t lose your identity.
As life’s heartbeat strikes, let bittersweet melodies be strum,
So, the begging question stands: what can’t I live without when I am away?
My answer would be, the lessons I’ve learned, and the passions eating at me.
To be true to myself, never doubting one thing, or regretting the things of yesterday.
Lastly to never lose confidence, even if one were to disagree.
As I grow older with society and its rules,
I never want to follow the crowd if it means my character were to worsen.
So I will take up every lesson, instruction, and all tools,
And be who I was made to be at the core of my person.
