One time I was a kid
One time when I was a kid
I got asked what I wanted to do when I got big
I replied "well maybe grab stuff off the top shelf?"
They replied "No I mean with yourself"
Until then I had never thought about it
The perpetual motion of life was something I did not notice
Suddenly I became more curious
Now that I have got the information what am I going to do with this
Then I thought maybe I should have been more observant
Strive to be a good person and a servant
Started asking what can take me higher
Could I ever be a king of an empire
Could I possibly be a legend?
But I always knew that I wouldn't life forever
Is this for the worse or the better
I never once thought to understand what taxes were
But let me tell you how my wheels began to turn
Now that we fast forward in time
The thought of a singer, a fireman, and a cop all came to my mind
Thought to myself I can do it I am one of a kind
Little did I know that I'd be taught the same was as Suzy and Tim
But be told I am different than them?
I have these things that can make me excel
But I sit in this classroom like its a cell
Learning how many apples Mark has if he buys 60 and gives away 32
While watching my friend Andrew eat some elmers glue
And trying to figure out why Mark needs so many apples?
My mind is shaken like a rattle
Looking everywhere in my desk to find the keys to these shackles
I have this fire inside of me and I can hear the crackles
But I fel like there is no way out of these classes
Where I can literally feel time slow down like a fresh pour of molasses
I realized then I never wanna be big
Sign me up for a lifetime of being a kid
Meaning I will never forget to find joy in the little things
To be the one who dances and sings
Not to forget to sit up straight and smile big
To keep my heart open and my mind curious
To dive into the unknown and mysterious
You too should sign up for this
Never be afraid to be yourself
This is just some advice that I thought might help
