One Track Mind
I cannot breathe
Sweat dripping down your face
The finish line is the place
I must go there
I look around
Hear the sound
Of all my teamates and coaches
Cheering me on
I must go on
I can't make it
I'm slowing down, I need to stop
I cannot breathe
These negative thoughts, brush them away
I can do this, and I will
I do this for my team
For my self
Just one more lap, time to sprint Megan
Give it your everything
Leave it all on the track
The final straightaway
Pass as many girls as you can
And in a moment, I am done
I passed the finish line
And immediately, I start crying
Overwhelmed with emotions and pride
My body hurts, I'm breathing hard
But I did it
Mile time: 5 minutes, 54 seconds
Teammates rush over
Showered in hugs and high fives
Coach is proud
I look in the crowd
To find my parents' joyious expression
I did it
Good job, Megan
