One Vote.....

one vote, one chance!

which at times

can be paramount to change;

then only if I allow it so!

too often overlooked;

and forgotten,

in the role of our country’s democracy,

is the part and the role I play,

I can bring a Government down,

I can undermine authorities,

I can help shape,

the cabinets and caucuses of our nation,

I can by stealth with my vote,

change committees of vested interests,

I can send young men off to war,

I can sit back and not be noticed,

I can allow faceless men to take full advantage,

or let their mates from ‘rent a mob’

for all occasions,

succeed in a bloodless coup de grâce.

so just call me mate

I am your original swinging voter.

I like to be known as

a voter who happens to think,

not treated like some unintelligent moron

and what concerns

and matters to me most,

is that I went overseas to fight;

in order to keep my country safe,

and over there is where I went,

and now I am standing up

with patriotic pride and passion,

that my single Uno vote on a ballet paper,

has been designed at least

to “keep the bastards honest!”
