To the one that was to late

As a child I would wait,

wait by the door hoping that you could come home, but you never did.

I could see you a couple houses away, hanging out with your friends, drinking beer and playing darts.

You never came home.

"Dad look! I got my report card." I said, but you were not there to tell me good job, you were never there in general.

After years and years of trying to get your attention I realized it would not happen.

Then the fear came, you were in the hospital, they said if you continued you would die.

I wandered what was more important, the beer? Or your children?

For some reason you chose us.

But now I am an adult.

When I need you, you were not there.

What, all of the sudden you think that you can just come back into my life?

It is to late for that, I love you, but it is to late.
