The One Who Rises With the Sun

The cool breeze of early morning Sweeps slowly along the contours of the living in slumber Reaches out its gentle fingers, Taps the bare shoulder, whispers, "Awaken" And swirls through the tendrils of hair Creating abstract designs on the wrinkled pillow case. The sunrise tickles the lashes Tempting icy blue eyes to open And let the heat of the sky's red and purple hue Defrost the iris and the pupil With the overwhelming beauty of a new day beginning. The image of the sun Bursting forth from the horizon in its spectacular Costume of red and yellow Will remain like a still frame on The insides of the eyelids and whenever the eyes Flutter in times of pain or unrest The memory gives hope to the one Who rises with the sun.
