one word

i used to think that once i got older i would feel better

once i got older it would be easier

and i've come to the realization that

everyone struggles,

young and old,

with their own problems and their own issues.

i used to think that i was feeling the worst and everyone else was fine

i was rude,

i thought they needed to know how i felt

i tried to make them feel it though my words

and i ended up with my words all alone.

i've come to know

that all people think and feel

and everyone wants to be treated well

and one small word can change a persons day

and one small sentence can change a persons life,

for better or for worse.
