One Word Changed the Whole Meaning

typical story of the struggling artist,

struggling student,

struggling human.

I can't do this, I don't know how.

     "Yet"

his words hit me hard.

     "You can't do this... yet"

he says it with conviction

and I can't help but believe it.

"I can't do this" turns.

it becomes "I'll learn"

becomes "I'll practice"

"I can do this"

now I think of my father's words

as I sit in my room

frustrated at the task set before me

and remember myself that

I can't do it

yet
