The One You Feed

I am an idea that lives in your head

I am the sun that rises everyday

Death, whose cold grasp wraps around your throat

Bringing new hope and possibility to those around me

Incapable of moving on

A flower has bloomed again

Not even those who are strong can resist my temptation

Yet many choose my side

I linger on the edge poised to erupt

Like a dark black cat lurking in the night

Clawing, scratching, desperately trying to make my way out

Suffocating is how I play, so nothing can stay

I bring light to those who are lost

I am so inviting

So many choose my side

It’s hard to hold on to the idea I preside

You cannot hide, for I lurk in the night

You must choose to keep what I have given

I consume your every thought, your strength tested

Or you might be lost for good

I provide a home, to those who break

So many choose my side

Waging a war that can’t be won

I must always be fought

The one you feed will always survive

So draw the sword and choose the side

Will you be the Dark?

Or will you be the Light?
